It's all about you
The talking
Talking about yourself can be difficult. It doesn't come naturally to everyone, it takes time to get it right and it usually involves a lot of introspection. Hard to do when you've got a hundred jobs left on your to-do list, or you're just plain terrified of public speaking. Sometimes, after living in yourself for X amount of years, it can be difficult to know where to start.
The writing
Writing about yourself can be even more difficult. Unlike pitching to clients, which is a common aspect of many different jobs, pitching using words on a page or a screen can be very different. For one, nobody can see your face, meaning you can't easily distract them with a smile, and for another, it's not always easy to inject the writing with a sense of identity...especially if you're not used to writing about yourself!
How are you doing it?
Due to all this, the common route that many online businesses take is to create a general About Us page that explains, briefly, what they do and how they do it. The problem with this is that the consumer is often left guessing: who is running this company? Why should I trust them? And most importantly of all: who am I actually dealing with?
The Crisp Ink difference
Unfortunately, spending lots of money on an expansive and impressive website doesn't always mean instant sales (although it can, of course). Hire me to write your About Us page and we'll initially spend some time getting down on paper exactly what you bring to the table. After that, we'll examine the competition, take a look at various options and analyse how best to go about it.
There are no rules, so don't be afraid to think differently!
There are no laws governing what an About Us page should look like, so if you have a dynamic idea which you think will get people's attention, feel free to share it and I'll see if I can put it into writing. While it's probably true that most of your customers want to know who you are and what you do, that doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a generic telling of the facts. Using the information you give me, we may decide to weave it into an entertaining short story, focus on why you went into business, or take a different approach entirely!
