You know what? It's all about being a proper peacock
Copywriting matters and it needs to be damn good, no exceptions, because it's about much more than just the words. It's about the message. It's about character. It's about condensing everything about who you are and what you do into just a few little shapes. Pressure, then (but fun pressure all the same!).
And bad copywriting, well, it's bad news all-round, don't you think? It doesn't make the most of who you are and it doesn't have many friends. When you think about it, bad copywriting is like a very dull peacock that can't for the life of it attract a mate, and who would want to be a very dull peacock in that position? (Wait, don't answer that, it's probably time we got off the subject of peacocks.) In other words, it's all about those feathers...
There's no doubt that solid copywriting is just as much about keywords and marketing as putting cohesive sentences together, but without a passion that reflects what you do – without real personality and some serious literary plumage – those words lack the impact to make people stop and think, or really move them into action. Two things which 100% need to happen, if you're going to be successful.
